(We won't be doing any of the fancy flashy stuff because what's important here are the words on the page, not the parlor tricks.)
Pink-Eye Lemonade
is a Literary E-Zine focusing on the beauty of literature and art, the
creation of the bizarre, the phantasmic, the satirical, and the
downright hilarious underbelly of life itself. It may be dark,
unbelievable, a little twisted, or even spiritually dirty as long as it
is not evil. In life, we question our upbringing, our institutions, our
religions, and even our community.
Pink-Eye is dedicated to all of those seekers who have not fallen or
given into the patriarchal disease of perverting oneself to live. The
positive and negative realms within the mind are vicious places and
many will give unto the negative simply because society informs us that
“it is cool” to do so. Since when is it cool to be a jerk, a bully, a vindictive woman, a creep, a sexually driven imp, a toy,
an object of one’s primordial desires?
This is the fine line between art and b.s. Art defies those
boundaries, it says, “I can create a world where stranger things have
happened and find a spiritual realm” without being disturbed.
A play on words and images, that is all.
Silence is the perfect form of control for the abuser, the bully, the control freak, and anyone intending to overpower you because your existence may be, for some reason, a threat to them. Fear, anger, and depression keep us trapped in a low ground, keep us attached to addiction, psychological abuse to ourselves, unhealthy relationships, and unhappy bodies. Here is where the words are our freedom, here we can say to the world – “I am beautiful and my message is just as strong as you.”
When life gives us pink-eye, we make lemonade. Ex-punks, ex-poets,
slum-dogs, art school rejects, university bred anti-subordinates, llama
lovers, swamp rockers, puppet show maestros, dime-store psychics,
multi-cultural cross-breeds, and all others seeking a refuge beyond the
disease that tramples literature and art, attempting to turn it into a
side-show of perverted madness.
(Here at Pink-Eye Lemonade, our plan is to avoid using sex to sell. It may be used metaphorically, but straight up graphic sex scenes will not be accepted.)
